Operations and Outreach Coordinator

Jenieki Young is the Operations and Outreach Coordinator at the Black Women’s Institute for Health, where she plays a key role in operational leadership, community collaboration, and engagement initiatives that promote health equity for Black women in Canada. With a background in Environmental Studies and nonprofit work, Jenieki brings experience supporting community-based programs, stakeholder engagement, and mission-driven organizational strategy. Her work is guided by a commitment to equity-centered leadership and collaborative problem-solving, helping organizations build systems and partnerships that meaningfully serve marginalized communities.

As a first-generation immigrant to Canada, Jenieki also draws from her own lived experience to inform her perspective on health equity and access to support systems. She understands the barriers many Black immigrant women encounter when navigating healthcare, social services, and community resources. She is passionate about creating opportunities that empower communities to advocate for and build the support they need.

Her interests lie particularly in operational leadership and advancing health equity through a focus on the social and environmental determinants of health. Through her work, Jenieki is committed to strengthening inclusive systems, amplifying community voices, and contributing to a more equitable and responsive health landscape for Black women across Canada.
