The Village Rising Summer Institute

Where Black Children Learn, Lead, and Thrive

The Black Women’s Institute for Health (BWIH) is proud to launch the Village Rising Summer Institute, a culturally grounded summer program designed to support Black children and youth through learning, creativity, wellness, leadership, and community connection.

Created in response to needs identified through our work with Black mothers, families, and communities, the Village Rising Summer Institute provides a safe, affirming, and enriching environment where children can build confidence, explore their talents, develop new skills, and create meaningful friendships.

Building on the success of our Bloom & Become youth programming, this six-week summer experience is designed to nurture the whole child through a balance of academic enrichment, creative expression, physical activity, and life skills development.

Please Note:

Registration for this year’s camp is closed. For further information, please feel free to email us at: info@bwhealthinstitute.com.com. Thank you.

Creative Expression

Creativity is a powerful tool for self-discovery and confidence-building. Participants will explore their voices, identities, and imaginations through a variety of arts-based experiences.

Athletics and Wellness

Physical activity and emotional well-being are essential components of healthy development. Children will engage in movement, teamwork, and wellness activities that promote confidence, resilience, and healthy habits.

Financial Literacy and Life Skills

Participants will be introduced to practical life skills in age-appropriate ways that encourage independence, critical thinking, and future success.

Junior Leadership Program

The Village Rising Summer Institute also offers a Junior Leadership Stream for youth ages 14–15.

Junior Leaders will gain valuable leadership experience while earning volunteer hours through mentorship, teamwork, community service, and hands-on support of camp activities. Participants will develop skills in communication, responsibility, leadership, and youth engagement while serving as positive role models for younger campers.

A limited number of Junior Leadership positions are available.
