BWIH’s response to Ontario’s lackluster budget plan that manages to leave Black women between the cracks of a deeply broken healthcare system.

We heard clearly through this budget where equity and prevention are being overlooked — and Voices Unheard tells us exactly what Black women and girls need instead. Black women shared that their experiences of harm, dismissal, and inequity are routine and too often invisible, driven by systems that fail to measure and therefore fail to act. They described navigating healthcare systems where they are not believed or cared for in ways that reflect their realities, while also facing gaps in mental health support and early intervention. Black girls spoke of feeling unsafe in schools due to surveillance and racial profiling, and of being pushed out and left unsupported. Across systems, Black women described not safety, but instability — even as they continue to lead within their BWIH’s response to Ontario’s lackluster
